X2 Technology ™ Demonstrator Achieves 225 Knots, Sets New Top Speed for Helicopter - Target Milestone of 250 Knots looms in Q3 2010

Florida - Sikorsky Aircraft Corp. 's X2 ™ today officially break the speed record for helicopters, reaching a maximum speed of 225 knots one-hour test flight at the Center for Aviation Development. Sikorsky is a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).
On 6 August 2010, Sikorsky X2 helicopter is already broke the record for the previous world's fastest helicopter with the speed of 249 mph persist in 1986, where Sikorsky helicopters reach a maximum speed of 258 mph on one hour. Sikorsky X2 has a propeller double-decker four-fold, with prop six-blade propeller at the rear, and all designed for browsing with a high speed. The Helicopter Sikorsky X2 is an experimental aircraft designed to "demonstrate that the helicopters can comfortably explore the air at 250 knots while retaining such desirable attributes, efficient, and smooth and simple transition to high speed."
